BlackLight Reactor Scheme
New Energy Source![]() Warebath Reactors BlackLight Power Inc., is the pioneer of technology based on the patented process of releasing chemical energy from hydrogen called the “BlackLight Process.” More specifically, energy is released as the electrons of hydrogen atoms are induced by a catalyst to transition to lower-energy levels (i.e. drop to lower base orbits around each atom’s nucleus) corresponding to fractional quantum numbers. The lower-energy atomic hydrogen product called “hydrino” reacts with another reactant supplied to the reaction cell to form a hydride ion bound to the other reactant to constitute a novel proprietary compound, or two hydrinos react to form a very stable hydrogen-type molecule called a dihydrino molecule. As hydrogen atoms and catalyst atoms are normally found bound together as molecules or are bound in other compositions of matter, BlackLight has invented a solid fuel that uses conventional chemical reactions to generate the catalyst and atomic hydrogen at high reactant densities that in turn controllably achieves very high power densities. The catalyst causes the hydrogen atoms to transition to lower-energy states by allowing their electrons to fall to smaller radii around the nucleus with a release of energy that is intermediate between chemical and nuclear energies. BlackLight’s experimental results on its process and compositions of matter are published widely and have been replicated by independent groups. The results of spectroscopic, chemical, and thermal data show that this novel reaction of atomic hydrogen that uses reagents to generate atomic catalyst and atomic H to form significantly more stable hydrides and hydrogen molecules is a new energy source ready for commercialization. The power density is among the highest known, (comparable to or higher than that of internal combustion), and the energy balance per hydrogen consumed is greater that that of any know material on a weight or molar basis. With simple systems, commercial levels of power can be generated at typical power-plant operating temperatures and at higher power densities, and the power was found to be easily scalable in terms of the quantity of reactants used. We envision plants that continuously regenerate the solid fuel mixture from any side products that may form using known industrial processes, and the only consumable, hydrogen, is obtained ultimately from water due to the enormous net energy release relative to combustion. The BlackLight Process has unique competitive advantages in all energy markets: electricity, heat, cogeneration (electricity production with waste heat recovery and utilization), and motive power. BlackLight currently believes that the scale-up of energy cells to commercial power generation levels will require the application of existing industry knowledge in chemical and power engineering. Rather than pollutants the byproducts have significant advanced technology applications based on their stability characteristics. For example, hydrino hydride ions having extraordinary binding energies may stabilize a cation (positively-charged ion of a battery) in an extraordinarily high oxidation state as the basis of a high voltage battery, and significant applications exist for the corresponding dihydrino molecules wherein the excited vibration-rotational levels could be the basis of a UV laser that could significantly advance photolithography and line-of-sight telecommunications. A plasma-producing cell has also been developed that has commercial applications in chemical plasma processing and as a light source. |
